Getting Ready – Basics Before Linking In

 

Trying to connect with other business professionals takes a bit more work and thought than other sites.  Instead of just going out and requesting friends, you have to be recommended.  Credibility is huge in the LI world, and it’s very important to have a plan in place up front to know exactly what it is that you’d like to accomplish while building your activities around it.

1)    Know what you want to accomplish – this is huge and will save you a lot of time. Before you hop on LinkedIn and dig right in, be sure to set goals for what it is that you want to accomplish.  You can use our LI Goal Sheet to help you establish clear goals and create a game plan for the results that you’d like to produce daily.

You want to be specific by stating clear goals like:

  • My goal is to connect with 5 new leads per day via LI
  • I will target other Network Marketers who are seeking to generate leads for their business, and introduce them to my lead generating program.
  • I will add articles 3 times per week to 10 different MLM groups to add value, with a call to action for them to visit my website for a FREE Report.

The more specific you can be regarding your daily efforts, the easier it will be to find highly target leads and convert them as prospects and eventually customers or business partners.

2)    Create a profile that helps you achieve your goals – Your profile is important to your lead generation process.  Although you’re in the home based business industry, your background and credibility still matters so don’t hesitate to share your corporate background and experience.

It will also allow you to make valuable connections from those that you may have worked with previously so be sure to include your job background, colleges you attended and other information that you will be asked to fill out.

3)    Focus On Strategy – Having a strategy is imperative and will make all the difference with the relationships that you’re able to develop on LinkedIn.  Because you’re dealing with a more corporate/professional network, you must come across as someone that people would show interest in listening to, so doing more than making connections is critical.

You will need to join groups, create your own group, share valuable information and position yourself as an expert.  Throughout this eBook, we will share with you, various ways that you can do this with ease.

4)    Establish Credibility as an expert in your field – Giving value really matters in the LI community.  It also helps to build your credibility and position you as the go-to expert in your Niche.  Begin thinking about different types of content that you can contribute to the LI network, and we will show you just how to do this through groups and with additional applications.

5)    Commit to maintaining your presence daily – Consistency is key with LI.  Although it can become challenging to try to maintain various Social Media sites, maintaining your LI account is critical to gaining exposure consistently.  We will show you how you can maintain your account with just 30 minutes per day, while providing a LinkedIn Marketing Blueprint that you can use to help you determine what to do daily!

By setting goals and being intentional in your actions you can create a successful campaign on LinkedIn. Always be mindful that you are there to build relationships and not to “Get” partners.  I wish you much success, but most of all embrace the learning experience and have fun!
